I love dressing up for a great party this is such a great occasion to wear something brilliant and get noticed. If someone asks me what to wear for parties or the names of brands I use for special occasions, Retrofête would just be so easy to choose. The moment I wore my first Party dresses, I fell in love. This NY label knows exactly what It girls want to wear. “More is more” certainly holds for party outfits for them, anyway. Party dresses is really not for those people that like to blend in. This past fashion week and their most recent runaway show had me more obsessed than usual, and I knew I had to talk to the man behind for some back-of-house intel, party dressing trends he’s into, after-party styling advice, and a whole lot more.
What is the inspiration for the Fall/Winter 2024 Collection?
This whole collection is about the alpha woman. The alpha woman works professionally in the daytime and at night gets ready, turning out to be the party woman with style. Her perfect fitted suits become the flowing gowns after dusk.
My inspirations will forever remain influential in the women in my life from my childhood until today. First, there is my mom, who still would be my biggest inspiration, working three jobs and managing to look assured and sassy each time. Then, the girlfriends whom I have always had to get ready for a night out with. Finally, my staff-mostly females-was oozing with strong womanhood.
I take lots of inspiration from ’80s stars. Think Showgirls, Basic Instinct, Wall Street, Pretty Woman-stars like Julia Roberts, Sharon Stone, Alicia Silver stone, Elizabeth Berkley, Michelle Pfeiffer.so for this collection I did more classic pieces that really work from day into night and from the office into a cocktail lounge. She’s the girl who can do everything, who has the job and the social life we all want.
Party Dresses Fall 2024 Collection
Among my favorites in this Fall 2024 Collection is the short-sleeve pinstripe blazer the usage of shapes and playfulness infuses pure newness into such a classic. The four-piece suit with fitted blazers worn under the matching long overcoat, though-that is just some great power dressing. Suede, croc, and shiny leather-for either shoes or handbags-finds its match against each outfit in this collection. Sometimes, an after-party look steals the limelight, not the red carpet look. How will you advice someone who wants to nail an after-party look?
But the after-parties, that’s when you can really have fun with it a mini party dresses, full-on sequins, endless options really. As the award shows and the red carpets get increasingly fancy, after-party’s the time when you could really be adventurous. Slits can go up higher. The shoes too can be made to look far more exciting. Fabrics are see-through and textures are bold. It’s not the dress, it’s the way you carry it. You name it-from choosing the bag, the stocking, the accessory, the jacket-every look can be your signature.
How would you then suggest making the pieces?
I believe the charm of party dresses is that there are many ways to style it. You may find all the finishing touches in one place today, as our outerwear and accessory categories are growing. While designing any particular season, my team and I keep all the tiniest details in our minds. Every color and shape relates to something else within the collection.
We know the number of party dresses, the amount of occasion wear, the numbers of knits needed to complete the collection. We have literally thought out each little part of the look from head to toe-with shoes as the last touch, of course. We style in such a way that all of the pieces fit by placing our items with care to make your job pretty easy. Which party clothes and night-out styles are going to be huge in 2024, according to you?
In Last
2024 is going to be a huge year for getting glammed up on nights out with party dresses, and of course, we love a good sequin-especially courtesy of party dresses but manage to find a way to revive them in some new way each season. And we collect through surprise methodology, placing crystals on plain work clothes with bright trim and fabrics, and rendering them suitable for a night on the town.
We are slowly moving toward parties with much more glittery clothing. Consider, for instance, the replacement of a midi with a mini “People just want something a little different, and this kind of cut just looks really good and it’s so much classier.”. This season is all about leather, and we’re doing it every which way: shiny, in a crocodile pattern, in surprising colors. It’s just such a classy, cool material.”.
